The Scottish Socialist Party, led by Tommy Sheridan, organised a demonstration outside Cornton Vale Women’s Prison on International Women's Day.
The party argued that the conditions within the prison were unacceptable, that some of the regulations – such as strip searching - were humiliating, and that many of the women held in the prison should not have been sent there in the first place.
As usual Rowland continued to argue for change to a wider system that perpetuates poverty, inequality and injustice. The main photograph shows Rowland with Tommy Sheridan. The slideshows are of the demonstration.
